Shoulder Season: in Citron Review

My flash creative nonfiction piece, Shoulder Season, appeared in The Citron Review on December 22, 2025.

This was the first piece of flash anything I had every written, and I wrote it after a craft talk by the great Alice Stephens (her new novel’s out on Feb. 2nd, 2027!!! Order here!) during a session of Adoptee Voices writing group! It came out quickly during our writing time that session, underwent a few rounds of peer review, and then was selected by nonfiction editor Ronit Plank for publication. Read her editor’s note here!

So grateful to everyone for their support and encouragement in teaching me about flash writing, and editing and revising this essay so it could reach its full potential!
